On 15 July 2020, Botswana has ratified the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, with only 10 other countries yet to ratify before it comes into force. This provides and avenue for for civil society engagement to strengthen multilateral and multi-stakeholder partnerships towards securing peace. Although it is one aspect of possible weapons of mass destruction, it builds momentum for exploring other ways for diplomacy, dialogue and democracy to be strengthened during these challenging times. It is one small step towards achieving peace.
